Being in West London prices aren't shy but this is more than your average gallery caff. We ordered the Black Angus beef burger & chips and Grilled chicken with spinach. The beef burger came on a wooden board with chips on the side in their frying basket, hearty and filling, the burger was served in a posh bun with gherkin. The tender chicken sat on a generous bed of crispy spinach and butternut squash, with a grilled lemon on the side.
For dessert we went for the Apple and Raspberry Crumble and the Chocolate and Hazelnut Tart. The crumble was perfectly crunchy on top and hot and sweet in the middle - like all good crumbles should be. The tart was very rich, so might be one to share, it did come with some Art Deco nut caramel needle thing... Must of taken its inspiration from next door. Overall the Gallery Mess is perfect for a long lunch or early dinner, it's posh but not 'Made In Chelsea' snob, staff are friendly and if you fancy a drink or two you can prop up a stool next to the bar. Oh and if you visit the website this month you can score a free cocktail too. You do pay more than an average cafe but given its Chelsea address and top notch grub, it's worth it.
